EU free movement under attack from MACRON: Brexit happened after ‘Britain said STOP’

In an attack on free movement, Europhile Mr Macron said he will restrict the foreign workers in France if they failed to pay full French labour taxes.

The east Europeans, who are often employed in the building trade under a special EU regulation on temporary contract, are subject to their home country’s payroll taxes rather than the higher charges to French workers.

But Mr Macron said: “The great defenders of this ultra liberal and unbalanced Europe, in the United Kingdom, destroyed themselves over that.

The French President said: “Posted working leads to ridiculous situations.

“Do you think I can explain to the French that businesses are closing in France to move to Poland while construction firms in France are recruiting Polish workers because they’re cheaper?”

Beata Szydlo, Poland’s prime minister, has accused Mr Macron of “hostility” after the French president said eastern European governments and others treated the EU “like a supermarket”.

Poland has refused to accept any migrants from states under pressure in the EU’s migration crisis as thousands of migrants have been dispersed throughout France. 

Eastern European countries should not be able to pick and choose parts of EU membership they liked without taking into account the bloc’s values, said Mr Macron.

The French president campaigned his way to office heavily on the future of the bloc.

Chancellor Angela Merkel said: “I believe it was important Emmanuel Macron said this again. 

“Germany and France are completely on the same page.”

The French president has criticised Eastern European countries for not accepting migrants and has spoken out against companies employing cheap labour from eastern countries. 

Mr Macron has also said that in order to keep the Schengen Zone, controls on the EU's external borders should be strengthened.
